Man killed in Sunset Strip shooting
Authorities responded after a man was fatally shot outside the Comedy Store in West Hollywood early Wednesday morning, October 14, 2015.
The shooting was reported at 12:49 a.m.in the 8400 block of Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim, a man in his mid-20s, was shot in the upper torso and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect approached and opened fire on the victim who stood with a group of people in the patio area. The shooter then ran southbound on North Olive Drive and out of view.
City News Service reports a witness said he heard five to seven gunshots.
A stretch of Sunset Boulevard will be closed for several hours as investigators collect evidence and talk to witnesses. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
