Everton must face revitalised Manchester United after quadruple injury boost
Manchester United have been boosted by the news that club captain Wayne Rooney will be fit for their clash against Everton this weekend, according to reports from the Express.
The newly-awarded Rooney was unable to play the match against Estonia due to injury.
It is Rooney’s desire to keep performing at the highest level that England manager Roy Hodgson believes should serve as a lesson to the younger players in his squad.
Rooney has been dropped back in to a deeper No. 10 role for much of the season with Anthony Martial now playing as the main striker, so perhaps that could explain his lack of goals in recent games, but van Gaal will be hoping his skipper finds the back of the net against his former club this weekend.
They then fly to Russian Federation to play CSKA Moscow in the Champions League before facing Manchester City in the derby at Old Trafford on Sunday week.
He’s also scored twice for England, seeing him overtake Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time record and set a new benchmark of 50 goals for the Three Lions.
Germany midfielder Schweinsteiger missed his country’s 1-0 defeat to Republic of Ireland on Thursday with a muscle injury.
England manager Hodgson told reporters: “From his [Rooney’s] point of view, and United’s, the rest will do him good”.
However, the Mail indicates that Rooney is expected to shake of his knock in time to be fully available on Saturday when he returns to Premier League action with United against Everton, where the 29-year-old started his career.
‘I fully expect to see him and Wayne Rooney fit for United and Louis van Gaal next weekend’.
