One dead after shooting near SU campus, suspects on loose
Syracuse police are investigating a shooting at 148 Hope Ave. that left one 15-year-old dead and another teen injured near Syracuse University, TWC News reported.
According to police, they were responding to a shots-fired complaint when they saw a van leave the scene and head toward Oakwood Cemetery.
Police set up a perimeter around the 160-acre graveyard south of the university and were searching the area with dogs and helicopters, syracuse.com reported.
Syracuse Police are investigating a shots fired incident on Warner and Hope Avenues.
One shooting victim has died; the other survived. Police also added: “stay out of Oakwood Cemetery”.
When officers arrived at the scene, they heard gunshots coming from a vehicle.
Syracuse University Police issued an Orange Alert Wednesday evening.
Police say no arrest has been made at this point, however.
According to Syracuse University’s twitter page, around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, “the emergency no longer exists”.
