First responders on scene of crash at Hammond airport

Two people were dead after a plane crashed Wednesday at Louisiana’s Hammond Northshore Regional Airport, officials said.
According to the FAA, the twin-engine Cessna experienced trouble shortly after departing from the airport and crashed while attempting to return to the field.
Airport officials said the nose wheel collapsed while landing. First responders and the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office went to the scene.
A witness said the plane was airborne for just 10 seconds before plummeting to the ground and exploding.
Hammond Police said two people were killed in the plane crash.
At the scene, multiple fire department crews continue to work to scene.
