Odom and Kardashian were widely reported to have filed for divorce in 2013 – but Los Angeles court records show that the paperwork from a divorce agreement filed three months ago still hasn’t been processed.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Sheriff Wehrly said: “They confirmed his (cocaine) usage on Saturday but were unsure if it had continued throughout the weekend”.

They have been at the hospital by Odom’s side since Tuesday night.

Members of the sheriff’s department were unable to give any information about Odom’s condition, but Detective Michael Eisenloffel said contact has been made with one member of the Kardashian family and they were “understandably distraught in the circumstances”.

“There is confusion about his condition, and they don’t know the extent of his injuries, but I’ll tell you this: they wouldn’t just drop everything unless it was serious”.

Odom spent the best years of his career with the Lakers, winning two championship rings and the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award in 2011. Doctors have said the fluid found in Odom’s lungs was the result of crack cocaine use, TMZ reported.

Odom played one season at Rhode Island before being drafted in the first round with the No. 4 overall pick by the Clippers in the 1999 National Basketball Association draft.
