Tag Heuer’s smartwatch teased ahead of November 9 reveal
The long-awaited Android watch has received an official launch date so it is time we presented you with a few details on the Tag Heuer and Intel premium device. The event, scheduled for November 9, will take place in New York and represents the first time we’ve seen a premium, traditional watch-maker enter the wearables space. Brady, who was wearing a brand-new TAG Heuer Carrera – Heuer 01 watch with a colorful strap, entertained the crown of media and retailer guests by throwing signed footballs to raise money for the charitable organization Best Buddies. The site also displays a timeline, with the Connected at the far end, that includes Tag’s more outlandish watch designs like the1969 Chronomatic Calibre 11 and2004 Monaco V4.
Tag Heuer depicts the smartwatch as “tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology”. The clock is ticking to the major breakthrough. Now, he’s adding another fashion stat to his resume as the new brand ambassador of TAG Heuer watches-though he admittedly leaves most of the modeling to wife, Gisele Bündchen.
We don’t know anything about the watch’s features yet, but there are two aspects to it that are fairly interesting.
It’s also costlier than all Apple Watch models, except for the ludicrously priced Apple Watch Edition.
Luxury watch brand Tag Heuer first told the world it was officially planning to dabble in the wonderful world of wearables at Baselworld in March of this year, although rumours surfaced a good six months prior to that.
Granted, the Connected does look a bit more like a man’s watch from the shape of its silhouette, which is slightly beefier and has less of a futuristic sleekness than most other smartwatches on the market. For those with $1800 to spend on an apparently “upgradable” smartwatch, I for one am glad that you might spend your dollars to help progress the smartwatch category and Android Wear platform. That’s quite a bit more than the current record holder, the Huawei Watch that comes in at $799 (about £515).
