Flipkart sells half a million handsets in 10 hours
Flipkart was in the cross hairs of irate customers after the company’s application failed to cater to many users today – the third day of its Big Billion sale. The sale of mobile phones started at midnight Wednesday, 14th October. “While talking about the Big Billion Day sale, Nagroi said that Flipkart expects a huge frenzy around the mobile category this time”.
“75 per cent of the phones sold during the ten hours period were 4G phones”, it added.

The e-commerce giant sold 10 lakh products in the first 10 hours and witnessed six million visits from across the nation. Faisal Kawoosa, the lead analyst (telecoms practice) at CyberMedia Research’s, said, “We recently concluded that between 22-25% of all mobile phone sales happen online and Flipkart could be selling the largest chunk but others are also doing well”.
However, the metro cities that topped in buying the maximum number of products from the Flipkart’s Maha Monday sales, included Bengaluru, Delhi and Chennai though in the non-metro cities Ludhiana, Lucknow and Bhopal topped the moat shopped cities.
Flipkart offers over 30 million products in more than 70 categorie bs like books, media, consumer electronics and lifestyle.
The Bangalore-based company employs 33,000 people, with 10 million or one crore visitors daily to its website and the company says it delivers about 8 million shipments per month.
