New move: The comedian is branching out in to more dramas after showing on Masters of Sex Trendy: While many actresses make multiple wardrobe / clothing changes while on the promo circuit, the 44-year-old stuck to her profitable look for a busy day of appearancesHeading in to Stephen Colbert’s studios earlier, the 44-year-old waved to fans as she arrived, looking pretty. A part of me is baby insane. “I replied-all: ‘Yay!’ And then I collapsed on the floor of my bathroom, shaking”. I went from being the class clown to not being able to see life in that casual way anymore. “My mom was there to pick me up, and she was taking pictures like a paparazzo”, Silverman said. “The fact that she was going to take this chance and she was going to do that different thing and take that risk really inspired me and pulled me into it”, he said. I knew playing Laney Brooks would take me back to a very dark place. Over the ensuing years, Silverman attended a motley crew of therapists, including one that committed suicide, and another who put an entire pharmacy’s worth of pills into her. “I went through several therapists”.
Are you surprised to hear Sarah suffered from depression, HollywoodLifers? “I saw that tweet”.
Over the years Silverman learned how to live and control her depression. “Like my mom always said, you just have to be courageous enough to exist through it”. While Sarah points out that things have gotten much better, she admits that she still has “downward spirals” every now and then. “That was really a moment where everyone was [like], ‘Oh my god, Sarah is, like, really doing it, and she’s incredible, and now we have to step up, ‘ and everyone has to give everything to make a good film”.
The Glamour article comes days before Sundance victor I Smile Back is released. “I love Hillary. I love her stance on women’s issues and everything, obviously”, she noted. With depression at bay, the comedian focused on getting to know herself and exposing her findings to the world in her art.
