Richard Linklater exits The Rosie Project, following Jennifer Lawrence
The Oscar-winning actress, 25, was slated to star in the filmmaker’s new project, which is an adaptation of author Graeme Simsion’s bestselling novel of the same name, reported Guardian online.
Yesterday, Jennifer Lawrence tore the roof off the internet by penning an essay about gender discrimination and pay inequity in Hollywood.
The film is now without a distributor but insiders say the “Black Swan” director has begun reaching out to actors with hopes to begin shooting this spring.
Richard Linklater has dropped out as director of Sony’s romantic dramedy The Rosie Project, following actress Jennifer Lawrence off the film. As for the reasoning behind Lawrence’s departure, it had initially been assumed it was a direct result of her signing on for Darren Aronofsky’s new indie flick, but apparently it’s more a case of her wanting a break after a series of gruelling back to back shoots.
The actress admitted she was surprised to learn that she and her “American Hustle” co-star Amy Adams were paid considerably less for their role in the movie than Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, and Jeremy Renner. But while we were all committing said essay to memory by reciting it slowly in front of our mirrors (…just me, or?) Lawrence was busy negotiating the hell out of a few movie deals, just like she promised she would in her Lenny piece.
“I didn’t want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don’t need”.
