Bilal Asif to undergo bowling action test on October 19
In what looks like a last-ditch effort to revive the India-Pakistan series in December, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Shahryar Khan has been advised to call Shashank Manohar, the newly-elected president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
Pakistan is due to host India in the United Arab Emirates for a two Test, five one-day and two Twenty20 series – one of six the arch-rivals agreed to play between 2015 and 2023 under an agreement signed past year – pending New Delhi’s clearance.
According to an ICC release, Srinivasan’s name was there in both the chairman’s as well as the India representative’s column in the list of members attending the governing body’s board meeting.
Under the worldwide Cricket Council (ICC) rules a bowler is required to clear bio-mechanical tests within 14-days to get cleared.
“Since he was not at the ICC meeting I phoned him and he invited me to tour India after a Working Committee meeting of the BCCI and I hope to get a final answer in eight to 10 days”, Khan said at a media conference in Lahore.
“The new President of the Indian board Shashank Manohar has assured us that he is keen on having Indo-Pak series and on resolving all issues between the two boards”.
Khan said global cricket would benefit from the series. There was also a discussion on the Indian board’s reported reservations against Ten Sports, the PCB broadcasters, but it was felt that nothing should be left for assumption and a communication channel should be established.
Shahryar knowledgeable that the BCCI was more likely to ship their reply about the proposed bilateral series between India and Pakistan by the top of October.
“In case of no series, PCB will face huge financial losses”, he said.
