YouTube Gaming update adds mobile gameplay live streaming and recording
YouTube Gaming is getting a huge update that adds the single most important feature for mobile gamers: the ability to broadcast your mobile games. Youtube is opting to go with the “overload viewers and Youtubers with even more options” route, which may ultimately be the right way to go.
All in all, Google is bringing improvements to its YouTube Gaming Service and it is starting to equally compete with Twitch.tv, which I’m curious with what new updates it will come up as a response to YouTube Gaming’s new features.
Google says that its game video streaming platform already has over 144 billion minutes of gaming videos and live streams on Youtube and to heat up its battle of dominance with Twitch even further, Youtube Gaming has today announced a few brand new features – most notable of them all being the mobile capture feature. Back then the option to livestream was only available for desktop users.
Google has made it official on their YouTube blog that YouTube Gaming now supports streaming from an Android device. Sponsorships are in beta for a select number of creators, and work like Twitch subscriptions.
With a sponsorship, the viewer will get a badge next to their name indicating the they’re a subscriber to the streamer, and will have access to exclusive chat sessions.
In short, all of those Clash Of Clans or Games Of War videos which all of us mad fans have been viewing on Youtube, can now also be accessed LIVE, in real-time, on Youtube Gaming. This type of content consumption innovation should allow for a younger generation to jump in on the action, which creates an interesting discussion about the direction of consumed media overall.
