Bill Cosby Loses 2 More Honorary Degrees
Ms. Hill claims that the comedian chose her for a bit part on a TV show, funded her college education and pledged to assist in her career, all while sexually abusing her on multiple occasions from 1983 through 1987.
Camille Cosby has made only one statement about the accusations against her husband, in December 2014, when she questioned the credibility of the accusers and criticized the media for not doing anything to “vet” their stories.
Cosby’s representatives responded by depicting Hill as a liar and an extortionist who was out for money, Kontos said.
The AP doesn’t normally identify people who say they are victims of sexual abuse unless they come forward publicly.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for defamation and emotional distress stemming from both the alleged abuse and Cosby denials.
Another Pennsylvania university has rescinded an honorary degree granted to Bill Cosby.
Goucher College, which is located in Towson, said it made a decision to revoke an honorary degree it gave to Cosby when he was the school’s commencement speaker in 2001.
Goucher President Jose Antonio Bowen said the school’s trustees “unanimously decided that Cosby’s admitted actions are in direct violation of values Goucher holds dear, including our community principles of respect, communication, and responsibility”.
A local university has revoked one of comedian Bill Cosby’s honorary degrees.
“It has become clear by Mr. Cosby’s own admission in a 2006 legal deposition (Constand v.Cosby) that became public this summer, that he engaged in conduct that is contrary to the values of Wilkes University and the qualities for which he was honored”, said Wilkes University President Patrick Leahy in an email sent last week to the campus community.
Hill claims Cosby would meet her in various cities as she performed there, serving her spiked drinks and then assaulting her. The alleged sex assaults ended when Hill became a college sophomore, the suit claims, at which time Cosby was reportedly paying for her rent and tuition.
