College Basketball Rankings 2015-16: Preseason Coaches Poll released
As we head into the season, there’s no clear No. 1 team. Both teams earned 749 points from the ballots of 32 Division I coaches.
UC, Xavier, Ohio State and Dayton all are among others receiving votes. North Carolina is likely the best team from either conference but Maryland (#3) isn’t far behind as they have one of the best starting lineups in basketball and one of the most intriguing players in the nation in Melo Trimble.
The USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll, released on Thursday, has North Carolina and Kentucky tied at number one.
The five teams that received first-place votes are the most since eight teams received first-place votes at the start of the 2004-05 season. They were also No. 1 in the preseason in 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2011-12.
The ACC has four ranked teams, with Virginia (No. 6) and defending league champions Notre Dame (No. 18) joining Duke and UNC. For the second year in a row, Duke’s recruiting class topped the ESPN RecruitingNation rankings, as Brandon Ingram, Chase Jeter, Luke Kennard, Derryck Thornton and Antonio Vrankovic headline a seven-man class of newcomers.
