Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s fairytale marriage is over
Garner has been open about how having children changed their marriage. Although the stars linked up for outings with their kids in recent months, including a smiley shopping trip on June 10, they were in the midst of preparing for a civil end to their 10-year marriage.
They first met in 2001 on the set of their movie Pearl Harbor, and reunited in 2003 to film Daredevil. The couple enjoyed a romantic low-key dinner and relaxed at Bistro 82.
While the reason for the split has been confirmed, rumors about an impending separation has been making headlines since a year ago.
The source added: “They plan to share custody and co-parent their kids”. And, despite announcing their split, they will not immediately file for divorce, instead deciding to wait until they hammer out the settlement details with a private mediator. “Thank you for understanding”, the statement read, quoted Vanity Fair.
The couple have three children together.
It is unlikely Jennifer – who has children Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and three-year-old Samuel with Ben – will be awarded spousal support because of her wealth.
As the two go their separate paths, a source close to the couple reveals that Garner might go back to acting.
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the hard decision to divorce”, the couple told E! in a statement. The celebrity divorce was reportedly bound to happen, as sources divulged that the couple has been talking to their lawyers about it for months now.
While accepting his best-picture Oscar for Argo, in 2013, Affleck acknowledged the work that he and Garner had done on their relationship over the years. When they started dating, Affleck was fresh off the demise of Bennifer, the name given to his pairing with previous girlfriend Jennifer Lopez and their box-office bombs, “Gigli” and “Jersey Girl”. “It’s good”, Affleck told her from the podium. National Enquirer OK! Magazine reported that Affleck and Garner’s marriage is rocky.
