Draft Biden pulls TV ad after criticism
Draft Biden’s ad “My Redemption” began airing on national cable networks Wednesday, and cost the super PAC over six figures.
A super PAC with the goal of getting Vice President Biden to run for President has launched its first ad, focused on the personal losses Biden has been through.
That hasn’t stopped the Draft Biden movement from launching a $250,000, 90-second ad set to air on CNN in the run-up to the October 13 debate – a debate that Vice President Biden can’t participate in unless he declares an official candidacy. There is no doubt that a savvy establishment politician like Mr. Biden can read the polls as well as anyone else and probably better than most. They were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter and requested anonymity. Biden’s sons, Beau and Hunter, both survived the crash, while Neilia and daughter Naomi died. Alcorn, who joined the group over the summer and is steering its activities, was previously the political director for Beau Biden, who served as Delaware’s attorney general.
Several activists called out as the Vice President reached the podium, urging him to step into the 2016 race for the White House. The speech’s poignancy is magnified by the fact that his oldest son, Beau Biden, passed away just a few days later after a battle with brain cancer. But Politico, a Washington-based media outlet, reports that it was Biden himself who passed that story on to Dowd as a trial balloon to gauge potential support.
As things sit right now, the answer, realistically speaking, is probably closer to no. While we await the formal release of Federal Election Commission filings of fundraising totals and cash on hand for the third quarter of 2015, the leading Democratic contenders have already let us know where they stand on the cash front.
The president certainly supports that approach.Biden, in his speech, left no such wiggle room. Its simple, the vice president said. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton leads that same poll with 42 percent, followed by Vermont Sen. It all comes as Biden’s aides are blasting as “offensive” and “categorically false” a report accusing him of being politically “calculating” while mourning his son’s passing.
“Unless I can go to my party and the American people and say that I am able to devote my whole heart and my whole soul to this endeavor, it would not be appropriate”, he told the crowd at the synagogue.
“I’m not asking and I don’t approve of anybody who is supporting me, or saying that they are supports me, to be focusing anyone other than the Republicans”, Clinton said. His first wife and infant daughter were killed in a auto accident in 1972.
“Nobody has more respect for the Vice President and his family than we do”.
