Ben Carson: We’re ‘closer’ to end of days
His “tell it like it is” strategy has millennials raving, especially for those who are exhausted of ‘PC culture.’ But, most importantly, many millennial supporters of Dr. Carson believe he can effectively address issues that are most important to them such as lowering the nation’s debt, revising our tax code and growing American jobs while also finding solutions to the student debt crisis and income inequality.
“If you change the definition of marriage for one group what defence do you have for the next group that comes along and wants it changed?” he said. “It just doesn’t make sense”.
If that answer isn’t satisfactory, then what Carson’s really asking is what version of repealing marriage equality – i.e. what version of second-class citizenship – is acceptable for LGBT people. Oddly, Carson wanted to know what he could do to mollify gay people if he refused to change his opposition to same-sex marriage.
“You could guess that we are getting closer to that”, Carson said. “Toss the whole thing in the garbage”.
The retired neurosurgeon has drawn fire in recent weeks with controversial comments about the Oregon community college shooting and the Holocaust, and he has a history of making waves with his remarks. Back in March, he claimed being gay is a choice, citing prisoners as proof.
“I think half the people I’m looking at doing roadwork in 100-degree heat are not legal – and they are working their tuchus off”, he said. So, did something happen while they were in there?
“He came alive” following the uproar over the Islam question, Williams said, and a poll for USA Today showed that three out of four Republicans agreed with him.
Carson later apologized for his comments and said he “realized that my choice of language does not reflect fully my heart on gay issues”. I also appreciate that he has made his courage to render those views openly so I know what to do with them, much as we have come to understand the rhetoric of Donald Trump. I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive.
“I think we have a chance to certainly do everything we can to ameliorate the situation”, Carson said.
