Donald Glover comedy ‘Atlanta’ gets series order at FX
FX said it ordered a first season of Atlanta, a half-hour series created by and starring Donald Glover.
The series follows two cousins making their way through the Atlanta rap scene. The comedy is scheduled to be produced by FX Productions and air on FX in 2016. But when word got out that he was working on another television series called Atlanta, we were curious to see what that would entail. Glover will be executive producer on the show with Paul Simms (Girls, Flight of the Conchords) and MGMT Management’s Dianne McGunigle. It was yet another sign that Glover might have left acting for good.
After time spent at 30 Rockerfeller Center, Greendale Community College and under the steely gaze and Channing Tatum’s abs, Donald Glover is set to take up residence in Atlanta.
Brian Tyree Henry will play Alfred Miles, Atlanta’s hot of the moment rapper who plans to capitalize on the sudden fame as quickly as possible. He’s also done a few theatre, including Broadway’s “Book of Mormon”. He is also a member of the hip hop group Moors.
Zazie Beetz will play “VAN”. She will next appear in the feature Finding Her and is now shooting Wolves for writer/director Bart Freundlich.
