Clinton shifts stance on healthcare for undocumented immigrants
Answering a question about healthcare for undocumented immigrants, Clinton said, “It would be very hard to administer”. Will they acknowledge that the location of their debate, Las Vegas, has a Spanish name (“the lowlands” in English) and reaffirm the value of the linguistic and racial-ethnic diversity to the successes of the United States? The Culinary Workers Union Local 226, which is considered the most powerful union in Nevada, opposes the tax. What’s more, the majority of Latinos are aware of their economic condition.
“When you compare her to the other Democratic candidates and certainly to the candidates on the other side of the aisle, I think that there’s no comparison”, Villaraigosa continued. In a survey of Latino opinion leaders conducted by the National Institute for Latino Policy (NiLP) this past March, the most important problems they felt facing their community were the economy, jobs and income inequality.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton declared her stance on a controversial insurance issue during the party’s televised debate Tuesday.
At one point, Clinton noted that after years of congressional investigation into the Benghazi attacks and her emails, “I am still standing”. It comes in contrast with Clinton, who has evolved over the years. Sanders said he wants to address income inequality and close the wage gap that exists between the rich and the poor. Between 2006 and 2010, the poverty rate among Latinos went up six percentage points, more than any other group. As governor of Maryland, he signed the DREAM Act into law, which provided in-state tuition to undocumented students.
Also on debate stage were former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb on Tuesday at resort-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Likewise, she supports states offering Obamacare subsidies to undocumented immigrants. She watched the debate at an event hosted by the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) in California, where Latinos make up almost 39 percent of the population. But candidates have a responsibility to be more than just not-racist; not showing their fear-mongering backsides doesn’t automatically make them good on immigration. “I would like to see a timetable as to how a few of the policies that they’re proposing in terms of immigration will be achieved with a Republican Congress. We keep talking about who the nominees will be at the presidential level, but we need to remember that we still have congressional and senatorial seats up in 2016 as well, so what would it look like to have a Democratic president work with a Republican congress in order to achieve immigration reform?”
Galvan can’t vote because she is undocumented.
Is Martin O’Malley shy about the fact that he’s got the most progressive platform on immigration?
“Even though we can’t vote, we can encourage our community to go out and vote”, she said. They want to hear about their different policy positions on immigration, and they want a guarantee that the next president will not continue to deport our families and ramp up enforcement. “They’re suggesting-listen to this-Social Security for illegal immigrants”. Bernie Sanders likened a 2007 comprehensive immigration bill’s guest-worker provision to “semi-slavery”.
Leftward-pulling candidate Bernie Sanders, the socialist Senator from the Green Mountain State, spoke passionately at tonight’s CNN Democratic debate about the need to “take people out of shadows” and bring them into the blistering sunlight of US citizenship, as it were. “We want to be included in everything”. “They didn’t give us any dates on when we would see an immigration reform passed”.
“You would think that these jurisdictions would recognize what a public safety hazard they’re creating with these policies, but clearly public safety is not the primary concern-it appears to be the political benefit that they think they’re getting from this”, Vaughan said.
Of course, no one can be sure that will happen, or that Latinos in other states might not be more passive than they were here.
A lot of the common beliefs that we say about immigration have been wrong.
Clinton’s never going to be the ideal candidate for the left wing of the Democratic Party.
“I think the Republicans are doing great damage to our nation by their insults and attacks on immigtants”.
