Carroll expects Lynch to play Sunday vs. Panthers
Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seattle Seahawks ‘ official site reports.
Thomas Rawls: With 100 yards in two of the last three games it would seem that Central Michigan rookie Thomas Rawls has earned a few more carries than the normal Seattle backup.
Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said RB Marshawn Lynch will be back for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, but that Major League Baseball Bobby Wagner’s status may not be determined until gametime. It’s important to mention that the blame should not fall entirely on the defense at all.
But Lynch is not the only Seahawks player who is dealing with an injury, as linebacker Bobby Wagner sustained a pectoral muscle strain in their game against the Bengals. It’ll go all the way to the game, for sure. Wright, who is second to Wagner on the team in tackles (22 solo, 11 assists), doesn’t believe it’s going to come to that, but if so he said he’s ready for the challenge and added responsibility of moving inside. “I go hard for these guys in here and have their respect”. He missed two plays because of the injury, one of those resulting in a Cincinnati touchdown. The Seahawks also recognized his value and locked up Wagner with a $43 million, four-year contract extension before this season.
If Wagner is overestimating his recovery and can’t play against the Panthers, Wright is a the primary option to start at middle linebacker by sliding over from his usual outside spot. Wright talked about the differences between playing on the outside and in the middle, emphasizing the communication aspects of playing inside. Moody, signed last month after San Francisco released him, said he has been learning weakside and middle linebacker since arriving in Seattle. “If something happens it’s all on the middle linebacker”.
“You’re the quarterback of the defense”, Wright said. “But it’s more at the line of scrimmage and that was the guy (Jackson) designated to do that”. I’ve done it before and I’ll do fine. He’s really made a big statement about how he fits in with our style of play and we’re thrilled about that, so we won’t hesitate. We have to be that much more right with our opportunities. “It’s something we’ve been emphasizing and eventually one day it’s going to stop”.
