New feminist comedy for Lena Dunham
The “Girls” creator recently launched an online newsletter called Lenny Letter, which has already attracted guest writers like Jennifer Lawrence. The Verge reports that HBO, the studio behind Girls, have ordered a pilot from Dunham called Max.
Max hails from a quartet of Girls executive producers who all will executive produce the pilot – Dunham, who also will direct, Murray Miller, who wrote the script, Jenni Konner and Ilene Landress. The half-hour comedy will carry themes of second-wave feminism and star television actress Lisa Joyce as she stumbles her way into the women’s movement.
Gary Gershoff/WireImage Lena Dunham will serves as an executive producer for the “Max” pilot, which HBO purchased.
On board for the show is a hat trick of Girls veterans.
Dunham’s long-term partnership with HBO includes an upcoming fifth season of “Girls” and the well-received documentary “It’s Me, Hilary: The Man Who Drew Eloise”.
Joyce has enjoyed a minor role in Broadwalk Empire and starred in an episode of The Good Wife as well as opposite Adam Brody in the series Billy & Billie.
The question on everyone’s lips is: will Dunham star in the new show?
