Philadelphia man shot during home invasion
A 50-year-old man died Tuesday morning, hours after he was shot in the head during a home invasion robbery Southwest Philadelphia, police said.
It was not immediately clear if the intruders were searching for the wad of bills Harris posted on Facebook on October 5.
An investigation into a home invasion and fatal shooting Monday night in the Kingsessing neighborhood of West Philadelphia has police questioning whether the attack was motivated by a post the victim made to his Facebook page.
Harris was shot and died at a hospital on Tuesday. In it, Harris reportedly jokes about misplacing $60,000.
Two men confronted Harris, with one holding a gun to his head, and the other holding a gun to the head of his fiancee in the kitchen.
Before Harris was shot, the three goons – believed to be between 17 and 19 years old – held him and his wife at gunpoint, and demanded cash.
The couple’s three children aged 5, 2 and 10 months – they had celebrated their daughter’s fifth birthday earlier that day – were also in the house at the time.
A man’s Facebook post may have led to his death.
Indeed, the man’s nephew, Anthony Fleming, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the supposed stacks of $60,000 were likely piles of low-denomination bills with $20 notes on top to make them appear valuable.
‘And those young kids killed him.
Tony Harris has been described as a beloved figure in his Philadelphia neighbourhood. “The guy that was on me got off of me and went to the living room”.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
