Sony to Unveil Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium on October 21
Sony has started sending media invites for the launch event of the new Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium phones in India. Clearly, Sony seems to be banking on superior display experience to position the Xperia Z5 as a premium product.
As Sony confirms that it will announce new Xperia device(s) at the event. This invitation is for new Xperia devices and these are anticipated to be the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual as well as the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Dual.
The announcement also confirmed a list of Xperia devices making the jump to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. That’s equivalent to around Rs. 54,900. Meanwhile, the Xperia Z5 Premium was priced at GBP 699 in the Euro700 (~ Rs. 51,800) in Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands and Spain. While prices will differ according to individual markets, the pricing for India is likely to be around these indicators.
Speaking about the price range, the Xperia Z5 has been listed by Sony’s Eshop portals at GBP 599 (around Rs 60,600) in the UK, and Euro699 (around Rs 51,700) in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain. This also includes the upcoming Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact as part of its Open Device program. It will be supporting 4K resolution.
While the Xperia Z5 is an update to the Xperia flagship line, the Xperia Z5 Premium takes things to the next level on the display front. It has the same RAM, internal storage, and cameras as the regular version, but a larger 3430 mAh battery.
The Xperia Z5 Premium features a 5.5-inch 4K Triluminos display giving an impressive 806PPI pixel density. The Xperia Z5 comes with a powerful 23 megapixels rear-facing camera along with a 5.1 megapixels front-facing camera.
Sony announced previously that the company is already making preparations for the update.
