Second surgery could cost Maurkice Pouncey season
After suffering an ankle injury in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ August. 23 preseason matchup with the Green Bay Packers, the hope for All-Pro center Maurkice Pouncey was that he’d eventually find his way back onto the field in 2015.
Pouncey had to have a second surgery on his fractured left fibula, removing the metal plate from the initial surgery, to get rid of the infection, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
It appears as though Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey will remain out several more weeks and worries seem to be that his 2015 season is also in jeopardy. He underwent surgery to fix the break and was placed on injured reserve with the designated to return tag on September 6.
The earliest Pouncey could return to game action is Week 9 when the Steelers host the Oakland Raiders. He returned to play every game last season and earn his second All-Pro honors and fourth Pro Bowl.
The team signed veteran Doug Legursky following Pouncey’s injury but Cody Wallace has been playing center.
