Pelicans to sign G Nate Robinson to one-year deal
Robinson has been journeying around the league throughout his career, having played for the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, and the aforementioned Nuggets and Clippers.
Jrue Holiday is expected to be on a hard minutes cap early on, so the Pelicans are looking to add depth at the point guard spot by possibly adding former University of New Orleans star Bo McCalebb, according to Andrew Lopez of The Times-Picayune.
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has signed guard Bo McCalebb. Webster was signed by New Orleans on September 23 and appeared in three preseason games, averaging 1.3 points and 2.0 assists per game. Asked to play out of position as a full-time point guard, he didn’t look out of place during any of his time on court, but didn’t have the standout game which perhaps could have kept in in the mix for a longer period of time.
When Robinson returned to the Nuggets last season, he was a shell of himself. I am on the radar of a number of National Basketball Association clubs and scouts now and I need to build on this with a great season for the Breakers to help the club and to help achieve my own goals. Undrafted in 2008, McCalebb is a seven-year veteran in Europe, playing in Turkey, Serbia and Italy, in addition to Germany.
The 26-year-old’s return means Breakers management will have to make a call on Everard Bartlett who was called in as cover for Webster.
SKYCITY Breakers CEO Richard Clarke is proud of Webster’s efforts and says it will only spur the shooting guard on to bigger and better things.
Webster wrote on Twitter that his time with the Pelicans was invaluable.
