Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch: Limited Wednesday
The unhinged practice all but clears Lynch for a return following his two-game absence, pushing Fred Jackson and Thomas Rawls down the depth chart accordingly. Wagner yelled and angrily stomped away from the doctor’s exam as the Bengals closed Seattle’s lead to 24-21 in a game the Seahawks lost in overtime 27-24 after leading 24-7 with 12 1/2 minutes left.
With an injury status like that, it is hard to gauge Wagner’s availability.
As Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch continues to recover from a hamstring injury that caused him to miss two games and to exit another one early, coach Pete Carroll expressed optimism on Wednesday that Lynch will be ready to face the Panthers on Sunday. The Seahawks also recognized his value and locked up Wagner with a $43 million, four-year contract extension before this season. “We’ll see how that goes”. “It will go all the way to the game, for sure”, Carroll said Wednesday. This would force the Panthers to prepare as if he was going to be in the game. “He’s determined to play”. Meanwhile Kevin Pierre-Louis, expected to return after missing the past two games because of a hamstring injury, would be the first candidate to fill in for Wright on the weak side.
Wright said he would take reps at middle linebacker during practice to be ready just in case. Wright talked about the differences between playing on the outside and in the middle, emphasizing the communication aspects of playing inside. “I feel like to shine on this defense you really have to be special”.
“It’s not too much different”. “You just have to make the calls, get everyone lined up”. The other option for the Seahawks would be for Brock Coyle to start in place of Wagner, with Wright staying in his usual spot. He’s really made a big statement about how he fits in with our style of play and we’re thrilled about that, so we won’t hesitate. Moody could play if Wagner can’t and Wright moves inside.
