Racist note found in Colorado Wendy’s kids meal
It takes a particularly bad person to direct hatred toward children.
Two employees from a Wendy’s restaurant were fired after the fast-food chain said they put a racist note on a playing card in a kids meal.
She ordered a kids’ meal for her daughter, who opened the meal and discovered the alleged offensive note. Manige Osowski, a Colorado mother, says her 7-year-old daughter discovered the note in a toy included with the meal. She’s asking for a written apology to her daughter and believes that the staff should go complete a “comprehensive anti-racism training”.
The note featured the N-word and several other derogatory phrases, leaving the family shocked.
When Osowski refused to leave without the card that had been ripped up, the Wendy’s manager called the police and had her removed from the store, according to Osowski. Curious, she opened up the deck of cards, and inside, she found a single card inscribed with a racist message, FOX Denver reports.
The two accused employees have been fired. Wendy’s did apologize to the family, but the family said it won’t accept the apology until their children are formally apologized to. Candis Goins, Wendy’s spokesperson, offered this statement: “Our core values as a brand center around treating people with respect, and we have taken this situation very seriously”. The two employees who were involved are no longer employed by Wendy’s. The family said until they receive a formal apology from the fast-food-chain, they won’t accept an apology from Wendy’s.
On Tuesday, about a dozen people protested outside the Wendy’s to voice their frustration.
