Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe extends contract at Cherries
The AFC Bournemouth fans now in The Transfer Tavern have received a few good news regarding the future of their manager, and it is shots all round for the Cherries faithful by the bar!
Callum Wilson, Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel – three important players, the latter two the most expensive signings in the club’s history – are unlikely to play again in 2015/16 after each suffered anterior cruciate ligament injuries.
Howe already had a contract with the club for the next 2 ½ years.
Eddie Howe has revealed that Bournemouth will need to spend in January to strengthen their injury-hit squad.
“Eddie’s contract had a clause in it which meant that we would re-negotiate after promotion to the Premier League”, chief executive Neill Blake said.
“Maxim and I have total faith in Eddie and share his vision for progress and plans for the future, which we are all very excited about”.
Howe took Bournemouth to the Premier League last season and has since become the club’s most successful ever manager.
‘It just gives you that confidence and stability.
Howe speaking to the press ahead of his sides game against Manchester City this weekend said “My stance has always been very clear”. The feedback from a number of people is just bad luck.
“To this point, it has been a brilliant journey and I feel there is a lot more to come”, the 37-year-old added.
“You want to do things and you want to be able to make the players better”.
“I’d say that although he faces a long recovery time, he’s in good mental shape”.
“We know we are not going to be in a position to compete (financially) with them but we’ve never been in a position where we can compete, even in the Championship with a few teams. Yeah, if we had it I’d probably spend it but then attracting a player for £50million is another matter”. Any manager would tell you that.
