Man, two young children die from house fire in St. Paul
Two people are dead and one person is injured after a house fire in South St. Paul late Tuesday evening.
Paul Police Department says the blaze broke out about 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Authorities say firefighters braved intense flames and heat to locate three victims inside the home.
According to South St. Paul police, firefighters from the South Metro and Inver Grove Heights fire departments responded at 9 p.m.to a residential structure fire in the 300 block of 11th Avenue South. The injured person was taken to a hospital, where his or her condition wasn’t immediately known. A neighbor told the Star Tribune he saw rescuers pull two children and a man from the burning home, and one of the kids was given CPR before being put into an ambulance.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation by the South St. Paul Police Department and South Metro Fire Department with assistance from the State Fire Marshal.
Authorities say it appears the fire started in the basement garage area.
