Russian Federation eases Syria air strikes as militants regroup
Russian Federation says it has asked Washington to discuss coordination of military efforts, but Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the United States had declined to send a military delegation to Moscow for discussions.
The offensive, which both officials said would begin soon, would expand on a ground attack by the same alliance last week that is targeting rebels in Hama province farther west. The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said thousands of Iranian troops had arrived to take part in the offensives in support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The US said that at least four of those missiles went astray, crashing in the Iranian countryside, but Russia’s Ministry of Defense has denied this.

The shells that landed near the Russian Embassy in Damascus on Tuesday came as a group of supporters carried out a rally in solidarity with the Russian airstrikes.
“Russian combat aircraft are in Syrian airspace on completely legal grounds at the request of the official authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic”, Konashenkov said.
