Battle of the bands at Pendleton High is October 17
Enjoy performances by 17 marching bands from all over northern New Jersey, at Vernon High School’s Macerino Stadium, on Saturday, October 17.
Volunteers including members of the Music Boosters, returning band alumni, and marching band helped coordinate the event by directing traffic, escorting bands to various locations around the high school campus, and providing refreshments at the stadium.
Although junior high bands are welcome at the competition, RJHS band director Jeff Kee said the younger students don’t always have the opportunity to attend. “It was an honor to perform for them and visit with them about our show”, said Associate Band Director Jason R. Smith. The 82-member high school band, led by Band Captain Justin Malme, energized the fans lining the route with their parade piece entitled Sirocco.
The band represented North Lamar well placing sixth amongst several state contenders from the 6A and 5A ranks continuing to solidify its reputation as one of the best bands in class 4A in the state. At Rock Ridge, McLean also marched away with Best Music, Best Visual, Best Guard, Best Percussion, Best General Effect and a Superior Rating. Bands are judged by nationally recognized professional adjudicators.
