College shootings have Mike Bell weighing bill to have TN faculty, employees

Besides two major federal laws on guns – one pertaining to most background checks and one pertaining to manufacturing and importing of guns – nearly all gun laws are implemented on a state level. The liberal wing of the Democratic Party likes what it’s hearing from Clinton.

What’s needed is a sorting out: fact from myth, reason from rhetoric.

The Legislature could provide consistency by allowing community colleges to extend their firearms bans to concealed weapon permit holders. There’s nothing inherently wrong with gun shows. Republicans and Democrats alike support background checks and general gun safety laws. For example, following the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that left 20 children and six adults dead, the increase in public discussion over gun control caused gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson stock to drop 5.2%.

This has serious consequences.

Armed security everywhere. And yet the people who run our schools and colleges make them gun free. That’s a gaping loophole. To be clear, not all cases of gun violence can be attributed to poor mental health services or the widespread availability of weapons.

Gun owners can actively promote positive gun ownership, stressing safety, responsibility, respect for the power of the weapon, and its potential for instant deadliness.
