30 killed in two explosions in a mosque in Nigeria
About 37 people altogether have been killed in the recent bombings which happened in Maiduguri. “Not a single one escaped”, said Muhtari Ahmadu, a trader near the scene.
The death toll from Thursday’s attack on Molai mosque has risen to 30, according to the spokesman of NEMA, AbdulKadir Ibrahim.
The militant group Boko Haram was blamed for the attacks.
The two suicide bombers were among the casualties counted, he added.
DAILY POST gathered that the first explosion occurred at Molai mosque killing all worshipers, whereas the second hit rescuers who went to save the victims.
Sources said the force of the blast destroyed the mosque as worshippers were praying.
He equally said twenty other persons were injured and have been assisted by the villagers to hospital in Maiduguri.
The capital of Borno state, Maiduguri has been beset for years by such bloody attacks, which have been supported, planned and carried out by members of Boko Haram. At the weekend, 41 people were killed in triple explosions in Baga Sola, on the Chadian side of Lake Chad, where Nigeria meets Niger, Chad and Cameroon. Many have questioned whether President Buhari will be able to keep his promise to end Boko-haram’s insurgency by December.
“Four persons were killed in another blast this morning”.
