DraftKings and FanDuel face class action lawsuit

Many people first heard about this when a DraftKings employee won $350,000 for coming in second place in a FanDuel contest that cost $25 to enter and featured $5 million in cash winnings, including $1 million to the victor. But so far, the controversy apparently has not had a material impact on fan enthusiasm for daily fantasy contests.
Gouker said the target demo for fantasy sports is mostly males, and the types of games run the gamut from prize pools, to leagues, or head-to-head match ups. This is DraftKings. Welcome to the big time.
But that is not necessarily how the legislators they are trying to influence see it. When legislators get donations, they have to list out the name, address and profession of a person or group giving them money. “They shouldn’t have to feel that they are going against the house when they deposit money on these sites”, he said. “With little legal oversight and deep investments into these sites by the same professional sports leagues that oppose traditional sports wagering, these issues are ripe for Congressional review”.

Friday, it was announced by Daniel Wallach of Becker & Poliakoff that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Tampa, FL has begun an investigation into daily fantasy sports operators like FanDuel and DraftKings for possible violations of federal law and Florida law. “It would appear that most of America would have been exposed to this information to make a decision about whether they want to play daily fantasy sports”.
DraftKings and FanDuel, two fantasy sports sites are the center of attention after last week’s mishap.
By way of comparison, DraftKings big rival FanDuel upped its national TV ad spending $13.1 million for most recent four day weekend NFL period, Thursday through Sunday, versus $12.8 million the week before.
