Eyewitness describe ‘mayhem’ at scene of police officer shooting in east London
Tyrone Henry, of Hackney, east London, will appear in Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
A man has been arrested close to the scene and is being questioned by police.
A male police officer, no further details at this time, has been taken to an east London hospital suffering a gunshot wound (a condition update will follow in due course).
Local residents told The Telegraph that the officer was chasing suspects fleeing the raid when one of them turned around and shot him. “He has been that and more”.
The Metropolitan Police have not given an update on his condition but reports suggest he is in stable condition.

Shots were fired as the Metropolitan Police firearms unit SCO19 and anti-gang unit Trident Area Crime Command were executing an operation at 12:45pm in Scriven Street, Hackney.
“I am of thinking of him and his family and I wish him a quick recovery”, Hogan-Howe went on.
“I looked out the window and saw two men lying in the street with police officers around them”.
“The armed officers were running in one direction, and then the people who live round here were pointing in the opposite direction, where they actually are right now”.
Cmdr Bell said: “This incident reveals the very real risks our police officers face on a day-to-day basis while protecting the safety of Londoners”.
“Our officers confront danger every day”.
