Middletown student suspended for having knife
A 17-year-old Jackson High Student prompted a lock down at the school Thursday morning after he assaulted someone with an airsoft pistol and then brought the weapon onto school grounds, according to police.
Police said they were advised that a student had the knife inside a Rockville High School classroom around 1:35 p.m.
School administrators were notified and placed the building on lockdown, Simpson said.
Nesbit said he wants to see more done to keep kids and players safe at the school.
The principal of East River High School said the gun was found in a book bag and administration was notified.
Deputy’s also found the alcohol in his backpack.
The student was taken into custody after football practice was over.
The school sent out a recording to parents about the incident, which said the weapon was never used in a threatening manner.
Officials say the 16-year-old male student had a few “superficial self-inflicted cuts on his arms”.
