Get a Sneak Peek at Pixar’s Latest Short, Sanjay’s Super Team
Of Indian descent, Sanjay Patel’s directorial debut Sanjay’s Super Team is creating a buzz on the internet.
Patel said the story of the film is as much about Sanjay’s relationship with his father. And when his father rings a bell to signify that it’s time for morning prayers, Sanjay isn’t ready to turn off his beloved Super Team.
Sanjay’s Super Team will play in front of Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur, which opens in theaters on November 25th. With Patel’s approach to learning about one’s roots, the new short is bound to connect with children of all ages and races, as well as help those outside of the Hindu culture understand their deities a little better. In June, Sanjay’s Super Team will premiere at the Annecy worldwide Animation Film Festival in France, the festival announced Tuesday.
But things change. And Sanjay IRL began to embrace his Indian heritage, which means this story comes equipped with real feely moments as Pixar Sanjay begins to do the same.
This video features plenty of new footage from The Good Dinosaur, showcasing the lovable dinosaur Arlo (Raymond Ochoa) and his new human friend, which will become the latest in the studio’s long line of “truly unforgettable” friendships.
The film is loosely based on director Sanjay Patel’s own life, growing up in the 1980’s. The animator has been at Pixar since 1996 and has worked on A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc.
They showed us the short film in its entirety, so I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say that this is a major rebound for the studio in the shorts department.
