Manziel stopped by police in Ohio, admits to drinking
According to the Avon police report, Manziel and girlfriend Colleen Elizabeth Crowley were arguing in the vehicle and it got out of hand on Interstate 90 westbound.
The former Aggie star quarterback, who now plays for the Cleveland Browns, was stopped by police Monday in Avon, Ohio. Both then admitted to drinking earlier in the day.
Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland confirmed Manziel was pulled over by the police, noting the incident is said to have occurred around 6 p.m. on October. 12.
A witness told police Crowley was attempting to exit Manziel’s speeding vehicle as he tried to keep her in the auto. Crowley said she threw Manziel’s wallet out of the window.
The officer found a small cut on Crowley’s arm, the police report said.
Crowley told officers that she did not wish to press charges, and the police did not believe they were intoxicated to the point where the couple could be charged.
Crowley posted a message on Instagram shortly after the news was reported. They were seen by another person, whose home was across the street, who called police.
“I owe private apologies to a lot of people that I disappointed but a very public one to the Browns organization and the fans that I let down”. “It is a matter that we take seriously and have expressed our concerns to Johnny directly”.
UPDATE: Browns GM Ray Farmer has commented on the incident as well.
Prior to the 2015 National Football League season, Manziel had a lengthy stay in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility.
He started in the Browns win against Tennessee while filling in for the injured Josh McCown.
