Adelson said warming to presidential hopeful Rubio
Politico reported recently that billionaire Sheldon Adelson may be on the verge of endorsing Rubio and committing his considerable wealth to backing the Florida senator’s campaign. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., speaks during an event in Las Vegas Friday. Marco Rubio raised the spectre of Michael Dukakis yesterday – saying the current round of Democratic presidential hopefuls are as liberal as he is – as new polls show Rubio trailing far behind real-estate mogul Donald Trump in two key early nominating states. Daily Local News reporter Candace Monhollan will be right there live Tweeting along the way.
“There are only two ways forward for America: Our children will either be the free-ist or the most prosperous Americans that have ever lived or our children will be the first Americans ever that inherit from their parents a country worst off than the one that was left for them”, he said. With the exception of Mike Huckabee, who would eliminate taxes on all forms of income and replace them with a massive sales tax, Rubio is the only candidate who wants to eliminate taxes on dividends and capital gains. Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson, who grew up in Dorchester, has also been rumored to be leaning toward Rubio.
I think it’s fine.
So how close are Rubio and Adelson getting?
One wonders how many bartenders and maids will agree. “And that’s what this whole primary is going to be for the Democratic side”. “Let’s put the people in charge of their own health care”.
Rubio repeatedly says that ideal is fading because failed government policies do not help people prosper in a fast-changing economy.
“Before you borrow $50,000, $60,000 or $100,000 to pay for (a degree), you’re going to know what people make when they graduate from that school, with that degree”, Rubio said. Marco Rubio has been growing closer to Adelson and is likely to get his support in the near future, perhaps even by the end of this month.
With the Latino vote quickly becoming the tipping point of election, Rubio did not bring up his stance on immigration, which Hall said was a little disappointing.
