Cubs’ Kyle Schwarber was a show choir star in high school
The rookie has been asked about his series-clinching home run vs. the Cardinals about a million times now, and he’s not elaborated on it other than to say he’s honored to be a part of Cubs’ history. And that past includes Schwarber participating in show choir while he was at Middletown High School in Ohio. Watch him in action in the video below, performing “Carol of the Bells” at a 2010 holiday concert.
Kyle Schwarber was a star athlete for Middletown High School playing baseball and football.
After his junior year, Schwarber surprisingly was drafted No. 4, the first position player, taken in the Major League Baseball draft. Should Bautista have done it, or should he have been more subdued and “honored the game”, as a few have said? “It’s probably one of the better experiences of being in high school”.
As a bonus, Chicago was able to sign Schwarber for $3,125,000 because he wasn’t a consensus top-10 prospect. Schwarber absolutely unloaded against left-hander Kevin Siegrist, sending a home run that appeared ticketed for Lake Michigan, but actually settled atop the right field videoboard at Wrigley Field.
If that happens, they may write a song about Schwarber.
