Debate Drew Democratic Record 15 Million Viewers
It wasn’t surprising, but one of the biggest criticisms against Hillary Clinton to stick so far-the kerfuffle over her emails while she was Secretary of State-was a point of contention at last night’s debate.
“Online poll: Was the CNN #DemDebate rigged in favor of Hillary Clinton?” he tweeted Friday, referencing a Daily Caller sampling that shows 98 percent answering “yes”.
As for which of the other three candidates-Chafee, O’Malley, and Webb-had a good night, DeSanto doesn’t think any of the men took full advantage of the opportunity presented by the debate stage, but that O’Malley made the greatest strides in getting to Hillary Clinton’s left.
Besides Clinton, who is also a former U.S. Senator from New York and former First Lady, the candidates who participated Tuesday in Las Vegas were former Sen.
A CNN spokesman said as many as 980,000 people live-streamed the debate on cnn.com, CNN’s mobile apps and Apple TV.
Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton said Wednesday that she is a target of unfair Republican attacks, but believes voters will ultimately support her because “people can trust me to fight for them”.
“[O’Malley] can’t get any oxygen between Sanders’ rise in the Democratic primary and Trump’s rise in the Republican primary”, DeSanto said.
The newspaper called the debate “the best two hours of her candidacy to date”, adding that she “was head and shoulders above everyone else on the stage as a debater”. In fact, just Sunday he was asked on Meet the Press, this past Sunday: ‘Are you a capitalist?’ And he said ‘no – I am a democratic socialist.’ So, that’s how identifies himself, as a socialist. While in the guise of supporting small business owners, Clinton said that government has to “save capitalism from itself” a few times, while other times it must curb the “excesses” of capitalism. So there was a noticeable lack of infighting last night. The number of viewers of this debate was less than half of the viewers of the Republican debate (9.2 million versus 24 million).
But Mrs Clinton went on the offensive and said that “we are not Denmark, we are the United States of America”.
The controversy over Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State also came up during the debate. So let’s be fair about it. But your accusation – I don’t know, maybe that’s a strong word – that Democratic party dictated terms of the debate to CNN, that’s a pretty strong accusation.
