Cattle Smuggler beaten to death in Himachal, 4 Others Arrested
Suspected Bajrang Dal activists lynched a man from Uttar Pradesh at a village near Shimla because they suspected he was smuggling a cattle, his relative has alleged, Hindustan Times reported.
DSP Pachhad, Yogesh Rolta, said five cow smugglers, attacked and injured by local people, were arrested and admitted to hospital.
Officer Somya Sambhasivan said that the mobs chased the men, who were driving a truck carrying five cows and 10 bulls. Four of his accomplices, all Muslims, were arrested by the police. According to details, Bajrang Dal activists lynched a Muslim man suspected of smuggling a cow at a village near Shimla.
They also filed a case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating whether Bajrang Dal activists were behind the lynching.
“A truck carrying five cows and ten oxen, was spotted by local people who chased the vehicle”.
A Muslim youth died after he, along with a few others, was thrashed by a few residents of Sarahan village in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
Rolta said that other four accused of cow smuggling, Mohd Nishu, truck driver Guljar, Salman and Gulfam, all residents of Rampur of Saharanpur district, would be produced in a local court.
All the accused have been booked under different sections of Cruelty against Animals Act. Haryana, ruled by a new BJP government, is working to put a complete beef ban in place – even on canned beef, under a new “Gau Sanrakshan Avam Gau Samwardhan (Cow Protection and Cow Conservation and Development) Bill” for cow slaughter.
