Drunk Woman Claims to be TV Character
Iowa City police arrested a drunk woman Friday morning after she called them and claimed to be a television character.
Criminal complaints say she called 911 shortly before 3:00 in the morning on Friday claiming she was Olivia Pope and reporting “syrus beams outside of Sports Column”. Cyrus Beene is a villain on the television show “Scandal”.
Police said Cousins kept talking about Scandal and a vehicle with a bomb heading toward the White House.
The University of Iowa student continued to name-drop Olivia Pope’s name to officers, and even mentioned Cyrus Beene, another iconic character on the TV drama played by actor Jeff Perry.
Cousins, according to the complainants, told police she had been drinking and used a fake ID. She allegedly registered a blood-alcohol level of.
Police said everything Cousins said was “nonsensical and rambling” and noted that she had bloodshot eyes, poor balance, impaired speech and smelled of alcohol.
Cousins has been charged with public intoxication and making a 911 non-emergency call, both of which are misdemeanors.
Cousins, charged with making a non-emergency 911 call and public intoxication, was still in Johnson County jail early Friday, the newspaper reported.
