FanDuel and DraftKings are hit with class action lawsuit

That would be in line with the company’s priority of quickly launching a wide array of contests, a key difference between DraftKings and FanDuel.

According to data provided to ESPN by industry analytics provider SuperLobby.com, the number of entries at DraftKings this week increased from 3.75 million to 4.14 million, a 10.4% increase, while FanDuel’s entries jumped 6.3%, from 3.18 million to 3.38 million.

The suit is the latest fallout from a controversy that erupted this week when it came to light that a DraftKings employee had inadvertently released information about which athletes were most likely to end up on the rosters. Many tournaments offer cash prizes that stretch into the millions of dollars. Matthew Boccio is responsible for setting player prices on FanDuel, and recently won $50,000 in a DraftKings contest.

FanDuel spokeswoman Justine Sacco said that in-stadium sponsorship commitments would continue.

DraftKings has not responded to a request for comment from Action News Investigates. The possibility that insider information has been misused threatens to disrupt the booming business.

Fantasy football means imaginary games played by imaginary teams in imaginary leagues, which are made up of real players whose playing statistics are compiled from real football games.

Yahoo and National Hockey League are forbidding their employees to play fantasy sports affiliated to their companies.

Menendez and Pallone said the reports of employees playing and winning on other sites “raise serious questions about the integrity of these online fantasy sports websites, and it raises the question of whether there are sufficient consumer and competition safeguards to protect the integrity of these online games”. SuperLobby’s CEO, David Coperland thinks that the decision is a good indicator of how well Yahoo is aware of its market.
