Bruce Springsteen Details Massive Box Set
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN HAS been up to a spot of dredging, preparing a new release that provides a wider perspective on his classic album The River.
The full 4CD/3DVD document features unreleased tracks, demos, rarities, live recordings and much more, telling the full tale of this ambitious album. It also comes with a 148-page 10-inch-by-12-inch book with photos from the sessions, and a new essay by writer Mikal Gilmore.
The double-album gave Springsteen his first US Number One Record and resulted in an extensive touring period.
Bruce Springsteen has released “Meet Me in the City”, a previously unheard track from his upcoming four-CD, three-DVD box set The Ties That Bind: The River Collection. The Boss remarks: “The songs lacked the kind of unity and conceptual intensity I liked my music to have”.
The first CD of bonus material is interesting because it’s a recreation of the single album version of The River that Springsteen originally meant to release as the follow-up to Darkness on the Edge of Town.
Springsteen, 66, remains active both in the studio and on the road, releasing his 18th studio album a year ago.
Long described as one of the most intense performances by the famously energetic artist, Springsteen took the stage under a cloud after Ronald Reagan’s sweeping victory a night earlier in the presidential election.
The physical set with DVDs is available on Amazon for $119.98 and the Blu-ray is priced at $129.98.
