Truth Was A “Bolt From The Blue” For Cate Blanchett
Cate, however, wants female characters with depth to be something that’s not out of the ordinary.
Ahead of its London Film Festival premiere tonight, a new poster has arrived online for Carol, featuring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara…
On Saturday, the 46-year-old is due to receive the British Film Institute Fellowship, whose previous winners include actors Ralph Fiennes and Al Pacino.
Rooney said the chemistry came naturally: “Chemistry isn’t something you can create”.
The film traces how the Bush story was torn apart by the media, discrediting Mapes and ending the career of veteran TV newscaster Dan Rather, played by Robert Redford.
Blanchett stars in the films “Carol” which arrives stateside in November and “Truth“, which opens nationwide tomorrow, October 16. The star was spotted no less than three times around New York in the flats in just a few days, and each time they just worked.
“I think any sort of gender divide is insane to be talking about today”, Rooney Mara said. I thought somewhere between the two lies Mary. “It was really the advent of the blogosphere, and to witness someone’s fall from grace via these so-called Internet reports was chilling”.
Cate, 46, looked elegant in a white silk jumpsuit at the London Film Festival event, which had lace panels which had a semi-sheer panelling running throughout.
“Every time there’s interesting complex roles played by actresses on screen, someone says: ‘Do you think this is a breakthrough?”
While Carol breaks free from the confines of marriage, her husband (Kyle Chandler) threatens her competence as a mother when Carol’s involvement with Therese and close relationship with her best friend Abby (Sarah Paulson) comes to light. “We seem to find ourselves in the same conversation and that’s somehow remarkable”. I think there is a swathe of great roles for women and certainly a swathe of wonderful female performers. “I read it, I ate it alive, and it got up incredibly quickly”.
