(Colo.)- Reto Berra’s Shutout Sends Colorado Past Slumping Ducks 3-0
The Ducks were shut out for the second straight game Friday in a 3-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche and the third time in four games to start the season. I couldn’t find the puck. If the team is coming back to locker room with a few gas still left in the tank, they have failed to give everything. Anaheim finished one game short of the Stanley Cup Final last season.
After an embarrassing 6-2 loss in Denver on Wednesday, the Colorado Avalanche shut down the Anaheim Ducks, securing a 3-0 win.
“It’s going OK, I think”, MacKinnon said in advance of the Anaheim game. “But I told the players that you’ve got to hang in there because when it’s the lowest time and then you pull out of it, it’s incredible how you turn things around”.
This reconstituted group continues have all sorts of issues getting the puck past the goal line. “Once that happens, it should be a snowball effect”.
The Avalanche completely took the crowd out of the game after killing off a late second-period penalty with seeming ease, changing the atmosphere of the arena and the game. Berra stopped all 35 shots he faced for his second career shutout, with Nathan MacKinnon and Jack Skille backing his effort with goals. The goal was the quickest allowed by Anaheim this season.
“I did see signs that they’re pulling out of it. I firmly believe if we get one goal, we’ll get three or four”. When speaking to the media, Patrick Maroon stated, “It makes a big difference when guys are having fun and smiling on the ice, and enjoying the morning skate”. “It’s going to be that one bounce”.

Nathan MacKinnon scored the game-winning goal in Friday’s win over the Ducks. The bright-orange sweater features the franchise’s original goalie-mask-with-a-duck-bill Mighty Ducks crest, with the current crest on the shoulders and the current jerseys’ letters and numerals.
