Mahindra unveils two vehicles from new Supro stable
The Supro MaxiTruck, which is powered by a 45hp engine with 98Nm torque, bears a sticker price of Rs 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom Thane) compared to the Tata Ace’s Rs 3.87 lakh and the Tata Ace Mega’s Rs 4.31 lakh.
Based on a new commercial vehicle platform, the Supro Maxitruck is powered by the turbocharged version of the Maxximo Plus’ 909 cc twin-cylinder diesel engine. “A true “Make-in-India” vehicle platform, both the vehicles are all set to redefine their respective categories”, said Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra, at the launch event. It offers 1,000 kg payload and 8.2 feet cargo box.
As an industry first, Mahindra has simultaneously rolled out two new products in two distinct segments of passenger and commercial vehicles. The Supro Van will compete with the Maruti Omni and Eeco.
Conceptualized to address the needs of two different customer segments effectively while delivering value proposition, the Supro platform is expected to lead the pack with superior fuel efficiency, power, comfort and style. The manufacturer says it will target Tata Ace customers with the Supro MaxiTruck, which comes with a two-year warranty. The other catchy things about the Maxi truck are an air conditioner, power steering and a best-in-class mileage of 22.4kmpl.
Along with this at the Chakan unit near Pune, an amount of Rs 120 crore has been invested by the M&M and in the coming future the company would be launching two more car variants.
The company plans to export both the products to the right-hand drive markets in the SAARC region, besides South Africa where it already has a presence.
