Mexico’s Drug Lord ‘El Chapo’ Guzman Injured During Bid To Recapture
Mexico’s security cabinet provided no details on when or where the operation to recapture Guzman took place, but it said efforts have been continuing since his daring escape from his cell in the jail in Almoloya de Juarez, near Toluca.
The statement cited information-sharing with global agencies for leading authorities to the area.
“It’s important to clarify that these injuries were not a product of a direct clash”, the statement added, without giving further information.
The Associated Press reported that U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officials knew of several Guzman escape plans nearly immediately after his capture previous year, although not of his successful July escape. And right behind him, another of that country’s most wanted men – Donald Trump, who called Mexican immigrants drug traffickers and rapists.
While the notorious drug lord got a taste of freedom, those suspected of helping him escape were in custody.
Mexican Marines raided a ranch in southern Mexico after US drug agents intercepted a cellphone signal suggesting the Sinaloa cartel drug lord was hiding out near Cosala.
The United States, where Guzman faces drug cartel charges, has pledged any support Mexico needs in recapturing Guzman.
At the start of the month Mexico extradited two high-ranking alleged drug lords to the United States – the most prominent to be handed over since Guzman’s escape.
The government said that it will continue the operations to nab Guzman back. The federal official said Saturday that it was the pilot who flew Guzman in the small plane.

Investigators said he had inside help to flee through a tunnel that ran 1.5km from under a shower in his cell to outside the prison.
