Netaji’s family in conversation with NewsX after meeting PM Modi
New Delhi (PIB-GR-TYP-BIN): 35 family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose called on the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi at his residence, 7 Race Course Road on October 14.
Keeping in mind the decsion of the PM to declassify the Netaji Files early next year the following articles from Swarajya on Netaji Bose is a must for those interested in the topic. No photograph of the body, which was said to have been cremated in Taiwan, was released.
The meeting is taking place in the backdrop of the declassification by the West Bengal government of official files related to the last days of Bose, who is said to have died in a plane crash in 1945.
The Prime Minister said that he finds the suggestions of the family members of Netaji to be similar to his own thinking and the view of the Union Government.
“Subsequently, a committee headed by the cabinet secretary was set up in April-May to study the subject”, Singh quoted Modi as saying.
“There is no need to strangle history”.
The BJP leader said Congress had become “jittery” because of the decision as the “history will be re-written now”. He said he would also request foreign governments – beginning with Russian Federation in December – to declassify files they have on Bose. He also questioned why the Nehru government had not given the due pension to the members of Indian National Army (INA) headed by Netaji.
