Worker in critical condition after fall down Yale smokestack
A man working inside a smokestack on the Yale University campus in Connecticut died Saturday, after he fell from a ladder down into the chimney about 50 feet and became stuck at the bottom.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m.

The worker was reportedly repairing the inoperational smokestack when he fell. Marcarelli told the Register that the worker was wearing a harness when he fell. Another employee for global Chimney climbed down the ladder to perform emergency medical care while the Fire Department worked to break through the exterior wall.
In a statement, Karen Peart, deputy press secretary for Yale, said, “Yale extends its deepest condolences to the worker’s family, friends and co-workers”.
Officers from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration who were conducting an investigation at the plant this afternoon were not available for comment.
